Delta State will be the official Host State for the 2025 Meet Africa Fashion Festival, MAFEST, coming up April 24th to 26th, 2025, in its capital city, Asaba.
This was confirmed in letter conveyed yesterday by the State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Darlington Nnamdi Ijeh, and addressed to the President of MAFEST Governing Council, Mr. Charles Ozoemena.
Ijeh, in the letter titled “Re—Hosting of Meet Africa Fashion Festival (MAFEST)—Letter of Endorsement,” said the state government was also endorsing the festival because it aligned with the objective of the ministry to leverage culture, tourism, and creative economy as key contributors to the state’s economic growth.
“By this endorsement, the ministry is committed to providing expertise support towards the success of the event where necessary,” Dr Ijeh declared while wishing the organisers of MAFEST a successful outcome.
In his response, Ozoemena assured that the fashion show would be an event worth associating with.
“We are deeply grateful to the Delta State Government for their invaluable endorsement of our fashion show.
“MAFEST will not only showcase the richness of our cultural heritage as Africans and indeed, the rich culture of Delta people, but will also significantly boost the local economy through job creation, talent development, and revenue generation,” he affirmed.
MAFEST is being organised by Mena Communications Limited in collaboration with Vanguard Media Limited and Modela Couture, with support from the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe (NIDO Europe), Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Africa (NIDO Africa), NIDO UK South, as well as the Federal Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management.
