The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has reaffirmed that Abuja will continue to serve as a hub for the nation’s diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions, emphasizing that this diversity is a source of strength and a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s future.

In a statement commemorating Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day, released on Tuesday in Abuja and personally signed by him, Wike extended his congratulations to President Bola Tinubu. He praised the President for taking bold and necessary steps aimed at fostering the growth and development of Nigeria as a united, strong, and resilient nation.

Wike encouraged residents to reflect on the sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers, whose vision and determination laid the foundation for the nation. “Their commitment to building a united, prosperous Nigeria continues to guide our journey. We must honor their legacy by upholding the values of unity, peace, and collective progress,” he said.

“As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we hold a unique place in the heart of our nation. Abuja, as the seat of government, symbolizes the unity of all Nigerians, with its rich diversity of cultures, ethnicities, and traditions coexisting harmoniously. This blend is not just a source of strength, but also a symbol of hope for a brighter future,” the Minister noted.

Reflecting on the current challenges facing the country—including economic, security, and social issues—Wike emphasized the important role of Abuja as the capital city in leading the nation’s efforts to overcome these obstacles. “We must demonstrate resilience and lead the charge in building the Nigeria of our dreams,” he stated.

He called on all residents to embrace the spirit of Independence Day and take personal and collective responsibility for the development of their communities. “Let us unite to support security efforts, promote peace, protect our environment, and be our brother’s keeper,” he urged.

In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, Wike reiterated the FCT Administration’s commitment to promoting national unity and progress. “Abuja stands at the forefront of these efforts, and we will continue to ensure that the city remains a symbol of hope, a center of opportunities, and a place of peace for all Nigerians.”

Wike also took the opportunity to honor the sacrifices of Nigeria’s security forces, whose dedication ensures the safety of residents.

In conclusion, he assured FCT residents that the FCT Administration remains dedicated to advancing infrastructure development, enhancing security, and improving the overall quality of life in the nation’s capital.
