Twelve-year-old rap sensation, Makayla Malaka has announced her entry into the Grammy Awards, vying for the title of “Best Children’s Music Album.” This significant milestone marks a high point in her flourishing career as she seeks recognition on a global stage. Her album, released on June 27, 2024, features a collection of ten tracks, including hits like ” Watch Out,” “Bounce,” and “Hard Work Pays,” which resonate with her youthful audience while highlighting themes of determination and perseverance.
The child act is rapidly establishing herself as a standout in the Nigerian music scene and beyond. Following the release of her fifth album, titled “Twelve”
Makayla’s ambition to reach new heights is reflected not only in her Grammy submission but also in her live performances. She recently headlined her first concert at the Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel in Lagos, where she delivered a show-stopping performance that captivated the audience. The event, titled “Makayla Malaka in Concert,” was a celebration of young talent, featuring appearances by popular kid entertainers such as the Ghetto Kids from Uganda, internet star Rango Tenge-Tenge, and Nigerian comedy duo Emmanuella and Aunty Success.
The concert was a testament to her stage presence and ability to entertain, with Makayla performing songs from her latest album backed by a live band. Her performances brought energy and excitement to the crowd, especially with her popular track “I’m Not a Morning Person”
