Top FIFA licensed football agent and global brand strategist, Drew Uyi, has backed newly appointed Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko to reset the Nigerian sports industry for greater efficiency and optimum performance..

Reacting to Dikko”s appointment to head the newly created National Sports Commission by President Bola Tinubu, the London-based Drew Uyi said Dikko was supremely qualified to fit the Sports Commission given his undeniable track record as a seasoned sports administrator.

It is recalled that on Tuesday, Tinubu, while presiding over the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meetings, said the newly created National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.

And to reporters from his London base, Drew Uyi, who is also a renowned sports expert, said the advent of Dikko at the top tier leadership saddle of the National Sports Commission will augur well for the all-round development and growth of sports in Nigeria.

Drew Uyi, who has vast experience in sports management, branding and sponsorship said Nigerian sports need a personality in the mould of Shehu Dikko, who is well versed in global sports marketing and administration.

“I want to congratulate Shehu Dikko on his appointment as Chairman of the National Sports Commission. The Dikko I know is a well versed administrator and businessman, whose appointment can be likened to a round peg in a round hole. He understands the sports industry having been part of the community for more than two decades.

“I must say that this is one appointment by President Bola Tinubu that catches the eyes of all of us in the sports arena. We are excited and expect a great turnaround for our sports fortunes and sports stars in the future”, added Drew Uyi.

Recall that Shehu Dikko first came into national limelight when as Chairman of the League Management Company, he was saddled with the onerous responsibility of managing the Nigerian Professional Football League.

Before that appointment, Dikko was a consultant for the Nigerian House of Representatives on Sports committee.

Drew Uyi said that with Dikko being an advocate of sports to be treated as a business, that he was hopeful of seeing greater investments in the sports sector.

“I see Shehu Dikko carrying out a lot of reforms in the sports sector because the potentials we have are unlimited. We also need to tap up the massive young persons, who are highly skilled in various sports and groups”, added Drew Uyi.
