Ebonyi State Government, Thursday said it was still waiting for the report from relevant authorities regarding the implementation of the new National Minimum Wage in the State.
Disclosing this in a statement, the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Engr Jude Okpor assured Civil servants that as soon as the report is made available to the State Government, the implementation of the new wage will commence, accordingly.
According to him, all the necessary Ministries and Line Agencies are cooperating to meet up with the directive of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, as no stone would be left unturned to ensure the betterment of the citizens of the State
He said: “The Head of Service was asked to commute the cost implications of implementing the new National Minimum Wage. His Excellency directed that, as soon as the process is completed or concluded before the end of September 2024, the State will commence the implementation of the new Minimum Wage in September.
“It is important to note that the State is still awaiting the report of the relevant authorities saddled with the responsibility but as soon as they do that, his Excellency is still ready to commence with the implementation.
“We believe that the report will soon be on the front burner in no distant time.”
