Oborevwori, Okowa, others to grace Delta monarch, Efeizomor’s 65th coronation anniversary

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and other dignitaries will attend the 65th coronation anniversary celebration of the Obi of Owa, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II.

The anniversary celebration, which begins on Friday, will also attract members of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, led by its Chairman and Orodje of Okpe, Major-General Felix Mujakpuero (Rtd), Orhue I, the Secretary to the State Government, and members of the Delta State Executive Council, as well as a cross-section of the public.

Activities marking the anniversary begin on Friday with traditional homage-paying by selected palace chiefs and members of the Obi-in-Council.

According to a statement by the organizing committee, “As part of the programme, the chiefs, accompanied by their kits and kin, as well as their well-wishers, will proceed in a dance procession to the palace, where they will eulogize the monarch and appreciate him for his reign, which has brought tremendous growth and development to the kingdom.

“The traditional homage-paying event, an age-long activity, will also feature the presentation of gifts to the monarch by prominent members of the public and wishers amidst pomp and pageantry.

“The grand finale of the two-day event will hold on Saturday with praise and worship, a paper presentation by an erudite professor, cutting of the anniversary cake, and cultural dances, amongst others.

“The ceremony will be attended by the State Governor, Rt. Honorable Sheriff Oborevwori, the immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, members of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council, led by its Chairman and Orodje of Okpe, Major-General Felix Mujakpuero (Rtd), Orhue I, the Secretary to the State Government, members of the Delta State Executive Council, and a cross-section of the public.”
