The community of Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State erupted in jubilation on Wednesday as High Chief Ezebinobi Ezigbo, President-General of Abatete Development Union, miraculously escaped from his kidnappers and returned home safely.
Ezigbo’s ordeal began on Tuesday evening when ransom kidnappers trailed him to his residence in Abatete, abducted him, and made off with his private vehicle. However, fate intervened when the kidnappers’ vehicle crashed into a gutter, allowing Ezigbo to escape.
Before his family could even receive a ransom demand, Ezigbo stunned everyone by returning home, revealing that he had managed to break free from the kidnappers’ camp. Though he’s withholding the details of his escape for now, choosing instead to share them with security agencies, his family is overwhelmed with gratitude and joy.
Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, confirmed Ezigbo’s daring escape, dispelling rumors that he was released by the kidnappers. Dr. Mefor, who hails from Abatete, warned kidnappers and other criminals to leave the state or face the consequences of Governor Soludo’s crackdown on crime.
This remarkable turn of events brings hope to the community, and the authorities are determined to ensure that justice is served.
