ASABA – GOVERNOR Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Wednesday, said that results that were not genuine in the July 13 local government elections in the State would be rejected, reiterating that he believes in free, fair and credible elect.

Oborevwori stated this at Asaba during a mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the local government elections where two chairmanship candidates of the All Progressives Party, APC and former member representing Isoko South Constituency I at the  State House of Assembly, Chief Okuemute Essien, defected to the PDP.

Oborevwori warned that there would be no room for result writing in the polls, saying “In my election, those who planned to write results, were they able to do that? Any result that is not genuine will be rejected.”

Thanking the party candidates and leaders for following his footsteps by going round all communities, units and wards to campaign for the election, he said: “As you leave here today, do road shows, tell the people to come with their Permanent Voters Cards, PVCs. It is the PVCS that that can make you to become Chairman-elect, Councillor-elect.”

Expressing delight at the large turnout of party faithful from across the state who attended the rally, the Governor said his focus since he assumed office was to give good governance to the people.

“For one year now, l have not been criticizing opposition parties; l am concerned with what l can do for Deltans because I am governor for all Deltans”, he said.

While welcoming the decampees into the PDP’s fold, Oborevwori thanked the party faithful for their continued support for the PDP,  assuring that their love for the party would not be in vain.

Immediate past Governor of the State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa noted that the PDP had been campaigning vigorously across all units, wards and local government areas while other political parties had been asleep.

He said: “After July 13, some parties will be saying we wrote results, but when we are campaigning, they at home. We have been campaigning in all units, wards and local government areas but they are sleeping.”

He urged members of the party to continue to stay united and work for the progress of the party.

Earlier, former Senator representing Delta South Senatorial district at the National Assembly, Senator James Manager, said: “This is the most important election because it lays the foundation for subsequent elections.

“PDP has been campaigning; l didn’t see any other political party campaign. Can you win election without campaign”
