The All Progressives Congress (APC) Stakeholders Forum has urged youth from the North to access President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s N110 billion fund domiciled in the Ministry of Youth Development for the empowerment and development of the youth population in Nigeria.

The APC group also commended the Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim who initiated the youth development fund so that youth in the country would be self-reliant.

Chairman of the APC Forum and convener of the youth sensitization seminar at the Arewa House Kaduna, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Katsina, told the youth groups in their hundreds, that the fund if accessed and properly utilized, will not only address the current economic challenges, but also help in tackling the chronic poverty and unemployment crises in the North and Nigeria in general.

According to him; the Minister of Youth, Dr Jamila Bio Ibrahim deserves commendation for the outstanding leadership qualities she had brought on board, which attracted the President’s attention to the ministry.

The Convener called on the youth to go and develop their bankable business plans and apply for the youth empowerment fund, so that, they can become employers of labour, rather than looking for white-collar jobs that were not available.

“The key reason of this gathering is to discuss the future of Nigerian youth who possess enormous power..N110 billion was an initiative of the Minister to prepare the Nigerian youth economically. She wants the youth to be prepared financially and have a good future ..I urge the youth to prepare themselves on how best they could utilize the money even before they access it,” he said

The Global Director-General of Coalition of Tinubu Support Groups, Dr. Doyin Johnson, in a keynote address; advised the youth against the get rich quick syndrome.

“The good thing is that, President Tinubu has done exceptionally well by recognizing the importance of youth development by voting a whopping N110billion for youth empowerment. But, the youth must know that, to access that fund, they must have bankable proposal. Gone are the days when government will give out money and people will waste it on frivolous things.”

“So, my advice to the youth is to think of business they can do, write beautiful proposals and access the fund. Because, if youth fail to do that, the money at the end of the year, will be retuned to the national treasury,” he said.

He attributed the current economic challenge to laziness on the part of the Nigerian youth, especially those who cut corners in getting rich.

“That is why many are engaged in internet fraud, popularly known as ‘Yahoo-Yahoo’. But, they should know that Yahoo boys don’t end well,” he said.

Chairman of the occasion and former military Governor of Borno State , Col. Abdulmumini Aminu ( rtd) who was represented by Alhaji Idris Abdurauf, said the Nigerian youth are proud of Minister Bio Ibrahim who had brought ideas and initiatives in the Ministry of Youth Development for the betterment of the youth population.

He called on the youth groups to support the administration, access the funds and make better use of the funds for their self development.
