CIG Motors Company Ltd, distributors of GAC brand of vehicles in Nigeria, has described a recent video of Chief Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, announcing plans to build a GAC plant in the South East as fake news.
Obi Cubana, a renowned Nigerian businessman and socialite, was seen in the video when he visited the GAC plant in China and was received by officials of the company.
In the video, it was said that the visit was preparatory to Cubana’s move towards setting up a GAC plant in the commercial city of Aba, Abia State, South East Nigeria.
Responding to Vanguard’s inquiry on the authenticity of the video, Executive Director CIG Motors, Mr Jubril Arogundade, described the information as untrue.
He said, “It is fake news. Obi Cubana is not planning to set up a plant. We took him to see our factory in China as part of our partnership.”
Continuing, he said, “He just visited China on a trip sponsored by CIG Motors for him to see the China factory.”
It should be recalled that not quite long ago Obi Cubana bought and deployed 250 units of GAC vehicles from CIG Motors for transportation service in Abuja.
