Senator Chukwu flags off construction of 7.7km rural roads in Enugu

The Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial zone at the National Assembly, Sen. Kelvin Chukwu, Sunday, flagged off the construction of Agbani-Amurri-Ugbawka 7.7km roads.

Flagging off the road construction  at Amurri village, Senator Chukwu said he would flag-off more two roads in Enugu East within a short while, adding that the project is just the beginning of what he planned.

“I can assure you that we’re just getting started and in the coming months, two more roads will be flagged off in Nkanu land. We don’t talk too much but want our actions to speak for us after four years.”

He said that the road projects would enhance connectivity, promote economic activities and improve the overall quality of life of the people.

The Senator assured the people of Enugu East senatorial district that no part of the zone would be left out, adding that he will continue to prioritise their welfare.

“There are concrete plans to improve healthcare, give the youths a new leaf of life, improve education and promote ideas that will enhance the economic situation of our people.

“The sole reason I’m representing Enugu East in Abuja is to bring back what belongs to them. All I need from our people is to continue supporting my efforts and remain united in the pursuit of progress and development of our place,” he said.

Senator Chukwu assured the people that the contractor (Eketeson) would deliver a standard and quality road that would stand the test of time.

In his own submission at the event, HRH Igwe Fidelis Nsiegbu, appreciated Senator Chukwu on behalf of all the traditional rulers in Amurri for the projects and said, “this road has wiped away our tears, after so many years of failed promises despite state government budgetary allocations.”

He also appreciated the former governor of Enugu State, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi who did a part of the road during his administration.

While calling on the people of Amurri to support the road project in any way they can, he charged the contractor handling the project to do a diligent job and give them a quality road that will stand the test of time.

The contractor handling the project, Chief Donald Ekete, while assuring to deliver a standard road that would exceed the expectation of the people, called for the residents support to allow him complete the project without any hindrance.

Chief Ekete who appealed with the residents to endure the inconveniences that would occur during the construction of the project. disclosed that the 7.7km road would be done in phases and in line with the best standard.
