Family members of the remaining two prospective National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, members from Akwa Ibom State kidnapped  last year along Zamfara highway on their way to the orientation camp in Zamfara State are hopeful that they would regain freedom soon.

One of them,  Mr Umoh, who spoke to Vanguard yesterday in Uyo, said: “In fact we are expecting those children to be home any moment from now. Last week, we were given the assurance that they would regain freedom soon. In fact we started expecting them since last Friday.

“Those children may have suffered in the bush all these months but we are happy that they will soon come home. Remember that the two of them and also the AKTC driver were freed since December 2023. That is about six months now.

“As we speak we are just waiting for those children to be released to us safely and very soon.”

Recall that the eight fresh graduates from Akwa Ibom State were abducted on Thursday, August 17, 2023  alongside the driver of Akwa Ibom Transport Company (AKTC), conveying them to Sokoto State for the NYSC orientation scheme.

It could also be recalled that three of the corps members were able to escape immediately the kidnappers ambushed them in Zamfara State.
