The Mayor of Urhoboland, His Excellency Eshanekpe Israel a.k.a Akpodoro felicitates with Muslim Ummah and the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Mohammad Sa’adu Abubakar on this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

The mayor, who is also an ex-militant leader of note, sent his greetings to Nigeria’s Muslim community in a statement issued over the weekend through his media aide, Austin Oyibode, in Abuja.

Mayor Akpodoro specifically congratulated and commended the Nigerian Muslim faithful over their perseverance and prayers for a better and stronger nation, saying only the prayers of the faithful have been holding the country together.

The Urhobo, Delta State-born President and Chief Executive of Agimor Group Ltd. noted that; “It is important we join our brothers who have been upholding the pillars and tenets of Islam to better the Nigerian State in faithful intercessions for the nation in this season of Eid-Kabir, which marks the end of the Muslim calendar.

“While we sleep, they are in the mosque praying for this great nation, they fasted for days for the same nation to stand apiece, in peace and faith and we have been coming out stronger from national challenges as a people under God. Therefore, we found it a duty to celebrate with our Muslim faithful for standing in for the nation and her citizens at all times. May their prayers for our nation be heard by the almighty God.”

The statement further urged Muslims to do more prayers for the unity of the nation. It called on the Muslim community to emulate the Holy Prophet Mohammed’s teachings on upholding peace and tranquillity at all times.

His Eminence Abubakar, the Mayor noted, has been leading Nigeria’s Muslim Ummah from the front, describing him as the father of Islam in Nigeria. “His interventions at every bend of our socio-political experience speaks to the fact that His Eminence is leading Muslim faithful in the country in the right path.” The Mayor stated.

He called for more support for the current administration by all and sundry stressing that current economic challenges will end well for the country, saying, “No pain, no gain. The nation is undergoing surgery and will come out of it in sound health. There’s hope that before the end of the first tenure of President Bola Tinubu, things will look up for the citizens. We are not bothered by what historians are saying. They are prophets of doom. For us, we have implicit confidence in the president that we voted on February 25, 2023. Having him in the saddle, we see a see hope and silver linen at the end of our tunnel,” the Mayor stated.
