The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, Orhue 1, has declared that due to the speed in which Jeddo community is growing, there is need to have permanent structure for the Nigeria Police Force in order to be able to protect lives and property.
The Okpe monarch made this statement during the official ground breaking and foundation-laying ceremony of a Divisional Police Station in Jeddo Community, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
The Okpe monarch, who was represented by Mike Afe said the level of criminality in the community made it necessary for such project and commended the leaders of the community for their foresight, urging other communities to emulate them, adding that the palace will continue to assist and encourage them from time to time.
Also speaking, Chief James Umukoro, Chairman of the project committee said the idea of the police station was mooted about 2 years ago when the Okpe monarch visited “as a result of what he saw at that time. But we were pessimistic on how to go about it. But thank God today, we are laying the foundation of the Divisional Police Station in Jeddo Community.”

Umukoro explained that the first phase of the project is the Administrative Block which will comprised five departments of General Administration,Charge and Armoury, rooms, cells and toilet facilities.While the second phase will be staff quarters and recreational facilities.including football pitch. Accoding to him, the building of the police stattion is through community efforts.
He appealed to the Delta State government’s intervention for the speedy completion of the station.
