A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress in Ondo state, Hon Olugbenga Edema, has appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) ahead of the off-cycle governorship election on November 16.

Edema, who contested the gubernatorial ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on April 20 in the State, said this in a statement in Akure, the state capital.

He stressed the need to key into the process, adding that the electorate’s power lies in their ability to elect the state’s next leader for the next four years.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  commenced Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) in Ondo State ahead of the governorship election on Monday.

The former Chairman of the Ondo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (OSOPADEC) said that each vote matters and will have a direct impact on the outcome of the election.

Edema stressed that the people must endeavour to exercise their civic duty by getting involved in shaping the future of the state through the power of their votes.

The governorship aspirant who had also served as a representative of the state on the governing board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), harped on the need for the electorate to obtain their voter cards and engage in the democratic process.

He however, cautioned the people against compromising their votes for financial gains.

Edema urged the electorate to uphold the integrity of the electoral system by making informed decisions based on the candidates’ merits and their manifestos rather than succumbing to inducements that could undermine the democratic process.
