Promoters of West Africa Business Excellence Awards have expressed confidence in the operational methods of Ghanaian airline, Africa World Airlines, AWA, saying its investment in passenger safety is admirable.

They said for 11 years, AWA has honed its safety protocols and standard, adding that the airline has left no stone unturned in striving for zero accidents.

While naming the airline as recipient of its 2024 Excellence in Health, Safety, Environment & Quality for Aviation in Ghana, they lauded AWA for passing the IATA Operational Safety Audit.

According to them, from AWA’s origination, safety has been a priority and a core value embedded in every aspect of its operation.

Speaking at the event, Head of Safety, Captain Victor Aryeetey, said: “Ensuring safety isn’t merely an objective, it is our solemn obligation, our unwavering commitment. Each individual who steps onto our aircraft is invaluable, and safeguarding their well-being is our paramount promise. This accolade serves not only as recognition of our accomplishments but also as a poignant reminder of the profound trust bestowed upon us by every passenger whenever they journey with us.”

Head of Commercial, Jonathan Appiah, on his part, reiterated AWA’s dedication to sustainable practices and commitment to making significant impacts beyond financial gains.

Appiah thanked the staff of AWA for their support and maintaining high standards for operation and customers, saying: “Although we always thrive to have on-time departure but sometimes due to operational and safety reasons there has to be some cancellations and delays.”

Appiah also encouraged the public to download the Africa World Airlines mobile app on google play store and App store. He hinted on offering discount fares soon on all AWA networks: Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Lagos and Abuja.

The occasion was organised by KN Unique Communications and endorsed by the West Africa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The awards event provides a platform to recognize individuals and companies which have over the years played a significant role in development of the business sector.
