Family, friends celebrate Ike Ekweremadu’s 62nd birthday in absentia

Family members and friends of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, who is serving a nine-year jail term in the UK for organ trafficking, may have put the politicians travails behind them, as they celebrated his 62nd birthday.

Former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, shared photos with Ekeremadu’s daughters, including Sonia, and other family members on Sunday, May 12, 2024.

“Today, I joined the Ekweremadu daughters and some family members to celebrate the 62nd birthday of my friend and brother for life”, Metuh wrote in a note accompanying the photos.

“Indeed, I am so proud of the girls, especially Sonia, for the remarkable strength and resilience they have shown in these trying times. “We cut a birthday cake in his honour and enjoyed a sumptuous lunch in celebration.

May the Almighty God give him peace and good health as we pray for a grand re-union in Jesus name.” It would be recalled that, last year, politicians from different political parties attended the wedding of Lloyd, son of Ike Ekweremadu. Lloyd got married to his heartthrob, Tiffany, at the Basilica of Grace Anglican Church, Gudu District, Abuja. The wedding was attended by several politicians, including Mr Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections; Benjamin Kalu, House of Representatives Deputy Speaker; Senator Dino Melaye and Mr David Umahi. Three former senate presidents — Anyim Pius Anyim, David Mark and Bukola Saraki — were also in attendance. The wedding ceremony came three months after Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, were convicted in the United Kingdom for organ trafficking.
