Diana Chen Foundation sponsors 25 Yaba Tech students for diploma course in China

Chief Diana Chen Foundation, DCF, is sponsoring 25 Yaba College of Technology students for an 18-month diploma course in China as part of its youth empowerment programme in Nigeria.

The programme is supported by Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College in China, Yaba College of Technology, CIG Motors Company Limited, and Consul General of the People’s Republic of China.

Speaking during the signing of the memorandum of understanding ceremony at the CIG Motors head office in Lagos, which was attended by the Consul General of People’s Republic of China, Yan Yuqing; Rector of Yaba College of Technology, Dr. Addul Ibrahim, and many prominent Nigerians, Chen said, “This unparalleled initiative, promises to transform the lives of 25 exceptional students from Yaba College of Technology, propelling them into the forefront of automotive engineering through an 18-month intensive course in China.”

According to her, this pioneering venture signifies a profound commitment to nurturing Nigeria’s talent and fostering international collaboration in the pursuit of excellence.

She explained that the students, 20 males and five females, were selected from the crème de la crème of mechanical engineering graduates with an awe-inspiring GPA of 3.0, adding that these scholars are poised to become trailblazers in the automotive industry, equipped with unparalleled knowledge and skills to drive innovation and progress.

Building upon the illustrious legacy of the Chief Diana Chen Foundation, which has previously hosted the prestigious Schwarzan Scholars, this initiative exemplifies the unwavering dedication to excellence and global citizenship. Past events have showcased the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to nurturing brilliance and fostering international collaboration.

She described the scholarship package bestowed on the scholars as “nothing short of extraordinary.”
The CIG Motors boss further noted that the monumental endeavour resonates deeply with the top agenda for education set by the President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscoring the government’s commitment to fostering excellence and equipping the youth with the tools to thrive in an ever-evolving global landscape.

This initiative is viewed as a testament to the Chief Diana Chen Foundation’s unwavering commitment to empowering the next generation of leaders and pioneers.

As these scholars embark on this remarkable journey, they are said to carry with them the hopes and aspirations of a nation, poised to leave an indelible mark on the world stage.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Rector, Yaba College of Technology, Dr. Ibraheem, said, “It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that we gather here today to mark the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Yaba College of Technology Choice International Investment Co. Ltd., Choice International Group, and Hangzhou Vocational and Technical College.

“This moment marks the beginning of a new chapter in our journey towards empowering futures through innovative partnerships on skill development and technological collaboration.

“The skill empowerment initiatives derived from the MoU are part of what President Tinubu reeled out to the Federal Minister of Education – encourage technological education through public-private partnerships that will grow the nation’s economy.

“The initiative from the collaboration has given birth to an 18-month training programme on skill development in the area of automobile technology from which students from Yaba College of Technology will currently benefit.”

He also said, “These students are the pioneers of the Silk Road International Fellowship programme that will give birth to more students from Yabatech and other institutions.

“The students will not only increase the technological development in automobile advancement alone but also the advancement of every part of the nation’s economy.

“By forging this partnership, we are laying the groundwork for a collaborative framework that will drive positive impact, foster knowledge exchange, and catalyze the development of groundbreaking solutions.

“Our alignment with these partners represents an alignment of values and purpose, a unified vision of progress and excellence.

“I am confident that the fusion of our expertise, resources, and aspirations will yield an environment ripe for creativity, co-creation, and transformative progress.

“Together, we are poised to elevate the benchmarks of industries and redefine the realm of possibilities that lie ahead of us.”

Ibraheem expressed appreciation to the dedicated team at CIG for their commitment to this partnership, adding that the joint efforts would pave the way for sustained success and enduring relationships.
