The House of Representatives yesterday resolved to probe the mysterious escape of an executive of a crypto currency exchange company, Binance, Nadeem Anjarwalla, in a security. breach which occurred while in a guest house under the office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.

This followed the adoption of a motion moved by Dominic Okafor, at plenary presided over by the Speaker, Tajudeen Abbas

The House further mandated its relevant committees to investigate personnel involved in the escape of Nadeem Anjarwalla, insisting that the NSA could not be a judge in its own case.

While moving the motion, the lawmaker noted that the federal government arrested and detained Nadeem Anjarwalla, an executive of a crypto currency exchange company, Binance, on February 26, 2024, for alleged complicity of the company in money laundering and terrorism financing.

He said:  “The two Binance executives were billed to appear in court on April 4, 2024, to answer to the alleged crimes against Nigeria before the security breach occurred which led to the escape of one of the company’s executives in a very scandalous dimension.

“Persons suspected to have committed such atrocious crimes against the state of Nigeria with already over-burdened security challenges, were kept in a guest house in Abuja, instead of the lawful custody of the Department of State Services, DSS, or any other approved custodial facility.”
