Ondo PDP primary: 627 delegates to elect party’s flagbearer Thursday

— Seven aspirants cleared

—- Bayelsa Dep Gov, Ewhrudjakpo, heads 7-member election committee

A total of 627 delegates from the 18 council areas of Ondo State are expected to elect the flagbearer of the People’s Democratic Party for the November 16, 2024, governorship election in the state.

The governorship primary election will be held tomorrow (Thursday) in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

Seven governorship aspirants of the party, namely, a former deputy governor of the state, Hon Agboola Ajayi; a former General Secretary of the Pan Yoruba Socio-Political Group, Afenifere; Chief Sola Ebiseni; a former information and orientation commissioner, Prince John Ola Mafo; Bamidele Akingboye; Adeolu Akinwumi; Bosun Arebuwa; and a former House of Representatives member, Hon. Kolade Akinjo, have been screened and cleared by the Senator Sam Egwu screening committee to participate in the primary election.

The primary election will be conducted by a 7-man Primary Election Committee, headed by Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo.

A statement by the state’s publicity secretary, Kennedy Peretei, in Akure said that the election will hold at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure.

Peretei added that accreditation of delegates will commence at 10:00 a.m.

According to him, “all those who are not delegates or have no business at the venue are advised to keep a reasonable distance from the arena.
