OLODODO: Kwara’s youth beacon of hope

OLODODO: Kwara’s youth beacon of hope

By Dapo Ipoola

HOPE as it was been described, involves optimistic thinking and focusing on good things to come. Hope is more than a feel-good emotion. It is an action-oriented strength involving agency, the motivation and confidence that goals can be reached, and also that many effective pathways can be devised in order to get to that desired future.

Again, it could be an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. In the account of history, countless men of faith and nobility have had cause to demonstrate and imbue others with hope. In the Bible book of Acts(26:-7), Apostle Paul suffered for his “hope” in the promises of God to Israel. King David, another Bible character rested in hope that God would not leave his soul in Sheol.

Job dealt with God with hope, and he found hope in suffering; the journey of Joseph is another classical example, and he left prison to become a Prime Minister; King David again demonstrated incurable hope, and he was empowered to face giants with trust; Apostle Peter demonstrated hope in redemption, and later found hope in forgiveness; Lazarus died of leprosy but with hope, he triumphed over death; Jesus Christ(Prophet Isa), demonstrated indescribable miracles by healing, prophesying and touching and the hope of that woman with the issue of blood was restored.

Therefore, hope itself is contagious and is like a star- not to be seen in the sunshine of prosperity, and only to be discovered in the night of adversity. Abdulquawiy Olododo, is the super Honourable Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and supervising Commissioner for Works and Transport, in Kwara State. Before his foray into politics, the Kwara State University-trained Engineer was an agro-enterpreneur with landmark achievements in the agro-allied business.

To further advance his interest in agriculture, he co-founded Heart and Capital Limited, an integrated agricultural firm with wide experience in mechanised and commercial farming operations where over ten thousands youths have been trained and mentored on agribusiness. As fondly called, H&C Limited is not all about training and providing leadership in agribusiness, its interest is also in growing and easing agribusiness through services such as professional farm management, agribusiness consultancy, human capacity development programs in agribusiness, food processing, machinery procurement, and input supply; and his expertise in agribusiness culminated in his political appointment where he served as a Technical Adviser to the governor on agriculture for two years.

As a result of his administrative fecundity, he was again appointed as the DG of Kwara State Social Investment Programmes, KWASIP, an agency that was established and saddled to impact positively on the lives of the poor, vulnerable, unemployed and those at the bottom of the financial pyramid without access to funding, to ensure that they are availed the opportunity to better lives. And just a few days ago, this young enigma with many faces of excellence and success was inducted by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, as certified/registered Engineer of repute. In the Ministry of Solid Minerals where he was first appointed to superintendent, formidable measures have been put in place to checkmate illegal/unlawful mining in the state.
