A non-governmental organization (NGO) under the umbrella, Agege Molebi United Forum, AMUF, has presented a cheque of a million to a girl, Aminat Alege, 12, who was hit in the eye by a tear gas canister to aid her surgery.

Recall that the young girl was, on Friday, February 9, 2024, hit in the eye by a tear gas canister allegedly fired by a policeman in the Dopemu Police Division during a crisis in the Dopemu area.

Meanwhile, nobody has claimed responsibility or come to the assistance of the family since the incident occurred.
Touched by the plight of the girl and her family, AMUF, based in Agege, presented the cheque to enable the young girl to undergo surgery.

Presenting the cheque at the Aleges’ residence in Agege, one of the leaders of AMUF and Commander, Rapid Response Squad, RRS, Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Olayinka Egbeyemi, noted that they decided to come forward to assist the girl because she is a resident of Agege as nobody has come forward to assist the family.

He stated that the money the family has used for her initial medical expenses was a loan to the family.
