Docu-film on Ado Bayero screened at Freedom Park

The private screening of a documentary film on the late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero took place last Monday at Freedom Park, Lagos.

Titled, “My Father The Emir A Portrait Of Ado Bayero”, the documentary which was written, produced and directed by his daughter, Princess Zainab Jummai Ado Bayero, chronicles the incredible life and times of the late Alhaji Ado Bayero one of the most powerful and influential monarchs in Nigeria’s history.

Freedom Park Lagos, a historical site itself, was a great setting to showcase this historical and cultural documentary movie about a man of peace and culture who played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s socio political and economic landscape for half a century.

The screening of the over 2 hours’ docu-film that began about 7:15p.m, ended at 9:30p.m. While a Question-and-Answer session followed thereafter by the guests.

The event witnessed a gathering of culture enthusiasts, filmmakers and movie fans including director of ‘Kiss of Death’, Terry McMahon. The presence of the Dutch High Commissioner in Lagos, Mr. Michel Deelen; the director of Alliance Francaise, Mr. Marc Brebant and many other guests who were all captivated by the story of the monarch, brought life into the event that showcased the late Monarch’s life and times on screen.

The documentary which goes a long way in letting the world know about the achievements of the late Kano Emir, was also screened at this year’s IREP film festival on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

The filmmaker believes the project deserves a global audience and hopes to get it on streaming platforms depicting a great African icon and black history.
