Operatives of Amotekun Corps in Osun State have arrested a security guard, Micheal Eze, 25, for allegedly stealing nine air conditioners in Osogbo.

The suspect, who worked as a private security guard at a residence in the Government Reservation Area, G.R.A, in the state capital was said to have stole the items in the building he was guarding.

A statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo on Saturday by Amotekun’s public relations officer, Olusola Idowu, the suspect was caught in the act of removing an air conditioner unit in the residence he was employed to guard.

He was said to have sold nine units of split air conditioners worth N400,000 each to scrap buyers at N5,000 each.

Osun Amotekun Corps Commandant, Brigadier-General Bashir Adewinmbi, rtd., stated that the operatives arrested the suspect after complaint was lodged against him by persons of interest over the matter.

“He (Eze) was arrested around 7:30am on Monday in the residence he was guarding inside the G. R. A. while attempting to disconnect another air conditioner unit.

“He confessed to committing the crime, he gave up his buyers and two air conditioner units were recovered from the buyers”, the statement added.

Meanwhile, the suspect has been handed over to the Department of State Security for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
