Again, herdsmen sack Enugu community, 4 killed

Heightened tension mounts again in Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani local government area of Enugu state as alleged Fulani headsmen invaded the community and killed four.

Investigations revealed that the herdsmen sneaked and attacked the community in the wee hours of Sunday, killed four while the entire Akpugo village of Nimbo community deserted and flew to neighboring villages, towns and nearby bushes for safety.

Vanguard visited the community in the early hours of Monday reports that the entire village has been deserted while only sheep and goats were left looming while local vigilante neighborhood scampered to the brushes and farms in search of unseen hands of the alleged Fulani headsmen night moulders .

A competent source who would not want this name in print informed us that Nimbo community has not known peace since it was first invaded in 2004 where over 40 of it’s citizens were killed, adding that recently there was an alleged plan to establish ruga ranch in the community which the entire community opposed to it’s conclusion irrespective any interest.

“Barely four years after the 2004 Nimbo 40 mayhem, the herdsmen staged a come back to the community which the community vowed to be killed to the last man. The quick intervention of the then Enugu state governor Hon Ifeanyi Ugwuayi saved the situation and averted another blood bath after the Nimbo 40 killing in 2004 which vanguard reported comprehensively” he noted.

“The alleged plan to establish ruga ranch threatens security network of the community and must be the behemoth reason of the yesterday invasion and killing in the community. The local vigilante neighborhood watch together with the help of volunteers have been in the brushes since yesterday”

The traditional ruler of the community Igwe John Ako was unable to speak due to ill health while the President – General of Nimbo community Akachukwu Clement could not pick calls nor respond to text messages sent across to him in respect of the incident .

Meanwhile, Enugu state police public relations officer Daniel Ndukwe when contacted on phone confirmed the incident as a team of policemen have been dispatched to the community to maintain peace.
