Catherine, Princess of Wales, on Monday apologised over an edited official photo that saw news agencies, including AFP, pull the image from their systems.

“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused,” Kate wrote in a statement.

Earlier, concerns were raised over possible digital manipulation of a new family photograph showing Kate, 42, with her three children in the first official picture of the Princess of Wales since undergoing abdominal surgery in January.

DailyMail reported that the Royals faced questions after picture agencies decided to ‘kill’ the new Kate Mother’s Day photo.

Experts described the move as ‘damaging’ for the royals as the public now ‘question whether health updates can be trusted’.

The photo – taken by Prince William and released to the media – was then withdrawn by Reuters, AP, Getty and AFP over claims it may have been digitally manipulated.

Fans pointed to ‘errors’ that allegedly prove it has been edited.

Apologies

Taking to her X (Twitter) page, Princess Catherine apologised over the editied family photo.

She wrote: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing.

“I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C”
