Politicians from different political parties, including Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, labour leaders among them leaders of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, will tomorrow converge on Ovu community, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State for the burial of pro-democracy hero and iconic labour leader, Chief Frank Ovie Kokori.
A former General Secretary of NUPENG, and ex-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Michael Imoudu National Institute of Labour Studies, Kokori, died on December 7, 2023.
A funeral programme released by the burial planning committee and signed by the alternate chairman, Felix Ayanruoh, on behalf of the chairman of the Media Sub-Committee, Mr. Kayode Komolafe, Secretary, Ebenezer Adurokiya and son of the late foremost unionist, Kive Kokori, said service of songs will hold today at his residence, 20, Odokuma Street, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East, Delta State.
It said: “Friday, March 8, 2024 at 7a.m., corpse leaves St. Francis Hospital Mortuary in a motorcade to his residence for lying-in-state. At 10a.m., funeral Service at St. James Anglican Church, Oviorie-Ovu, Ethiope East. About 12:30p.m., interment at his residence, 20, Odokuma Street, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East.
“At 1p.m., reception/entertainment follows at Ovu Grammar School, Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East. Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 8a.m., thanksgiving/outing service at St. James Anglican Church, Oviorie-Ovu, Ethiope East.”
