Int’l friendly: We know how to beat Nigeria – Ghana coach, Addo

Black Stars of Ghana coach, Otto Addo, says his side has the strategy to beat the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of their game today (Friday).

The game will take place at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, Morocco, at 5 p.m. (Nigerian time).

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Addo stated that despite finishing as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, the Super Eagles displayed their vulnerability in some games.

He said, “We know what we can do and we know how to play against such a team, and even though they went to the final, they showed in some matches that they are vulnerable, so anything can happen.

“I am just hoping that we get a good start and we can end this game as the winning team.”

On his part, ex-international and interim coach of the Super Eagles, Finidi George, has said his players are aware of what is at stake playing against familiar foes like Ghana.

Speaking with the media on Thursday after the team’s training session, he expressed the desire to win.

“The team is prepared; they know what is at stake; the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana is always there, and that is an extra motivation for the players.

“We are good to go, players are ready, they know what is at stake, we just want to have a good game, and hopefully we will win.”

Finidi also stated that despite criticism of the defensive approach by the Super Eagles at the AFCON, the team will mostly stay the same tactically.

”We are not changing much (tactics), just add a little bit of few elements that we think would help the players.

“We will be very tactical and see how we can win the ball as quickly as possible,” he added.
