Senator Magnus Abe

Arewa leader in the South Alhaji Musa Saidu has reiterated his call to President Bola Tinubu to remember those who consolidated the foundation for his presidential aspiration in Rivers state at a time former Governor Nyesom Wike now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, contested vigorously to emerge presidential candidate of his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the general elections.
Saidu said the way the president was going with appointments in the state it appeared he had abandoned political leaders like Senator Magnus Abe who worked tirelessly to build a support base within the APC for him in Rivers state from scratch.
He recalled that when the faction of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi did not show any interest in Tinubu’s presidential bid it was Senator Abe that campaigned across the state for him..
He said even when Senator Abe left the party to emerge as governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP due to the factional problem in the APC he continued working for the presidential project of Tinubu with his funds.
Continuing, he said former governor Wike now Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, adopted Tinubu as his presidential candidate even though he ( Wike) is in PDP because he had lost his bid for his party’s presidential ticket and also has seen that the choice of Tinubu that Senator Magnus Abe had been working for was the winning candidate to throw his support for.
Saidu said abandoning Senator Abe after winning the presidential election was not a good move by President Tinubu, stressing that he was putting him on notice since in no distant time another round of campaigns will begin for the same office of the president.
” We have been seeing appointments from Rivers state by the federal government yet Senator Magnus Abe and those who built the APC for the president’s victory have not been considered. This is not a good political move on the part of President Bola Tinubu”.
” He should not forget that Wike contested for his office in his PDP and lost the party’s ticket. Before he came to support him having seen the effort of Senator Magnus that it will pay at the end of the day”.
Saidu also recalled his own campaign for northerners in the South to vote massively for Tinubu as president, adding that most of his appeals to the northerners in the South were in several media publications.
He said if President Tinubu chose to be blind to all genuine and patriotic campaigns for his emergence as president to now be working with those who wanted his job it was left for him.
The Arewa leader in the South said he led some northern leaders to congratulate President Tinubu at his residence in Abuja before he was sworn in, adding that they were told Mr President appreciated all their efforts for his victory. ” But we are surprised at what we are seeing now. Those who worked are not remembered but the one who wanted his job is the one getting all the attention. Well! There will still be more elections “, he said.
“Let there be justice. Senator Magnus Magnus worked for the victory of President Tinubu on the platform of APC. The way Mr President is going he doesn’t look like he would compensate those that worked for him. The Hon Minister, Nyesom Wike contested the presidential election, he was a serious aspirant in the PDP.
“Tinubu should consider those who marketed him very well in the state before Wike came in. We cannot force him but this is just to put him on notice.
“Campaigns will soon start again. He should not forget the effort of all who worked for him at a time when nobody gave him a chance within his APC”.
