Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue state has said that the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in Benue State deserve justice.

He urged the Federal government to support his administration to ensure that justice is done to all the IDPs in the state.

He noted that the people of the state voted for him for their own good and he is working hard to better the lot of the masses.

The Governor who spoke shortly after attending the Easter Mass held at the Benue Government House Chapel in Makurdi urged the people to collaborate with his government to have the state placed on the pedestal of sustainable growth and development.

He said his government had prioritised the returned of the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the state to their ancestral homes, infrastructural development, agricultural production, education and several others assuring that he would not relent until the wishes and aspirations of the people were met.

According to the Governor, “this administration means so well for everyone in the state. That is why we need to collaborate on all fronts and particularly on matters of agriculture. I need the people to go back to the farms. I need the young people to go back to the farms because this administration is willing to assist them with all they need to ensure that we maintain our status as the food basket of the nation.

“In the area of insecurity, I condole with the families of our citizens lost to insecurity, we are working very hard to ensure that the Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the state are taken back to their homelands.

“And we will continue to work hand in hand with them to seek justice and ensure that it is done.

“The Federal Government must come to our support to ensure that all the IDPs get justice. As they are taken back home we must ensure that their livelihood is brought back to normal. That remains our resolve.”

The Governor noted that “Easter is a season that enables us to count the many blessings God has given us. And for us in Benue we have those blessings.

“So I urge everyone to take advantage of this to continue to support the programmes of the government as they are already doing. The continuity of their support will ginger us to do more.

“I want the people of Benue state to understand fully that they voted me into power for their own good and it remains my resolve to work just for the common masses as always.

“The state has been quite backward and this is why we have been going aggressively on infrastructural development. We must make sure that we deliver on that and many more.”
