…says reconciliation committee not a solution in APC
By Jimitota Onoyume
Arewa leader in the South Alhaji Musa Saidu has reiterated his call on President Bola Tinubu to reward those who laboured vigorously for him to emerge victorious at the last presidential poll, stressing that it was the right step needed to strengthen the party.
Speaking against the backdrop of a recent constitution of a committee of some governors of the party inaugurated by the National Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the Arewa leader said the grievance of many in the party stemmed from the fact that those who jumped into the campaign train when victory was already certain for Tinubu were those being appointed into offices while the foundation supporters of the president were ignored.
He also called for a fresh election to be conducted to replace the National Chairman, Ganduje, warning that he lacked the moral strength to lead the party to victory in subsequent elections.
He said the leadership of the party should not lose sight of the fact that the party belonged to the people and not the governors of the party.
“Malam Nasir El-Rufai, you denied him an appointment and you are grumbling that he is building another structure, you can’t stop him.
“Governors are not the owners of the party. They depended on the people to be voted into office.
“The party leadership should engage Mr. President straight up to reward those that worked for him. We used, resources to work for Mr President. We made promises to our people that followed us that they should vote for Mr President and they would not be ignored. But now it is like we have been ignored.
“Mr President should do the right thing, reward those that built the party.
“This is the demand of core members of those who worked for President Tinubu. The committee can’t make any meaningful impact. If this is not done.
“Again let me say that Alhaji Ganduje can’t lead this party to victory, APC should conduct election for new leadership. Ganduje can’t deliver with the baggage of moral questions hanging on his head.
