75TH ANNIVERSARY: Lagos Country Club unveils plans

•2024 is our landmark year – Adewunmi, Club President

The President of Lagos Country Club, Seyi Adewunmi, has described 2024 as a landmark year for the organisation as it celebrates its 75th anniversary.

“We plan to celebrate the milestone with exciting and meaningful events,” Adewunmi said at the Club’s Annual New Year Party held at the Club ‘s premises at Ikeja GRA, Lagos.

The occasion had in attendance Oba (Engr) Kabir Shotobi, the Adegorunshe V, Anyagburen of Ikorodu, Kingdom and Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja Cantonment, Brigadier General A.M. Adetuyi, while Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was represented by a Special Adviser.

Also represented at the Annual New Year party, which had the legendary King Sunny Ade and his African Beats entertaining guests, were Sir Kessington Adebutu, Honourable James Faleke and Dr Gabriel Ogbechie who is Group Managing Director of Rainoil Limited.

“Today marks not just the beginning of a new year but the continuation of a cherished tradition that has been the heartbeat of the Lagos Country Club for more than three decades. As you are aware, Lagos Country Club is a private, family club devoted to the social well-being of its members. This event symbolizes more than just a gathering; it is a testament to the enduring spirit of community, the joy of togetherness, and the strength of our bonds as members of this prestigious club, Adewunmi told his guests.

He went on: “And what’s a celebration without music to stir our souls? We are excited to again have the legendary King Sunny Ade and his African Beats electrify our stage. King Sunny Ade (KSA), your music has been a beacon of cultural pride and joy for us over the years. We eagerly anticipate the magic you will bring to our celebration.

“Before we begin the festivities, let us take a moment to reflect on the year gone by. We have overcome challenges and celebrated triumphs, and through it all, our club has stood strong, united in its commitment to fostering a sense of family and community.

“As we step into this new year, let us carry forward this spirit of unity and joy. Let tonight be a reminder of the beauty we create when we come together, enriching each other’s lives with friendship, laughter, and shared memories.

“This year is a landmark year for us. It is the 75th year of the existence of our Club. We plan to celebrate the historic milestone with exciting and meaningful events. At the appropriate time, we will be inviting our well-wishers and indeed the public to join us, members, in the celebration of the illustrious journey of the foremost family club in West Africa.

“As the leadership of the Club, the members of the Management Council, in collaboration with the members of the Board of Trustees, will continue to do our best to place our club on the pedestal befitting of its status.
“At this point, it is worth mentioning our ambitious plan to commence the building that will house our E-Sport Section, a cutting edge facility to cater for the needs of the younger demography of our Club.

“On this note, I take this opportunity to express appreciation to the 2024 New Year Party Committee under the leadership of Engr. Amosu Olatunji for their hard work in making a statement with another New Year Party”.
