By being ranked as the seventh best university on the continent of Africa, the University of Ibadan, UI, has emerged as the best university in Nigeria.
The University of Lagos, UNILAG, which was ranked ninth in Africa is the second best in the country.
This is contained in the 2023 World University rankings released by the Times Higher Education, THE.
The ranking involved 1,799 universities across 104 countries across the world.
Of the top 10 universities in Africa, the University of Cape Town is number one, while Stellenbosch University and the University of Witwatersrand rank second and third respectively.
The University of Cape Coast, in Ghana is number four, while in the fifth position is Aswan University, located in Aswan, Egypt.
The University Ferhat Abbas of Setif, Algeria is in the sixth position, while in the eighth position is University of KwaZulu-Natal, also based in South Africa.
In the tenth position is Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania.
At the global level, the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom is number one, the university has maintained that position for the past eight years.
Harvard University in the United States is in second place, pushing the University of Cambridge down to third.
