Appointments: Call Uzodinma to order, Abia APC Stakeholders petition Tinubu

By Omeiza Ajayi

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress APC in Abia state have asked President Bola Tinubu to call the Imo state Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to order, accusing him of meddling in the affairs of the Abia state chapter of the party.

In a petition addressed to the president and signed by Hon. Nze Chiekwe Esiaga on behalf of the Abia State APC Integrity Group, the stakeholders recalled that they had earlier written the president in October 2022.

Part of the letter reads; “Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State is now playing God by his incessant interference and meddlesomeness on Abia APC matters as if Abia State is now an appendage to Imo State.

“In flagrant violation of APC Constitution and the Electoral Act 2022 and with the connivance with Chief Ikechi Emenike, he decided that Chief F.N Nwosu should be the unelected National Welfare Secretary of APC which was micro-zoned to Abia State in 2022.

“When Chief F.N Nwosu passed on in 2023, the same Governor Hope Uzodinma forwarded the name of Chief Donatus Nwankpa as a replacement for the office of National Welfare Secretary of APC without an iota of regard for the two remaining Candidates who ran for the office, namely, Chief Nduka Anyanwu and Hon Nze Esiaga (my humble self). This matter is now before a Federal High Court.

“In every 13-Member Federal Commission in Nigeria, one joint slot is for Abia and Imo States. For example, Federal Civil Service Commission and National Assembly Service Commission. Both States share the slot alternatively but the present Governor of Imo State took the two positions to Imo state without any regard to equity, justice and fairness.

“Governor Hope Uzodinma insisted that Chief Ikechi Emenike must be the Abia State Governorship Candidate of APC in 2023 without minding the obvious fact that Ikechi had no electoral value that would earn him victory in the Governorship Election. The result of the Gubernatorial Election alongside our poor performance in the Presidential Election unlike the result of 2019 election when Dr Uche Ogah was on the Governorship ballot is now food for thought.

“There was no Congress in Abia State APC in 2021 and the same Governor Hope Uzodinma with his Co-traveler, Chief Ikechi Emenike, compiled names of Exco Members of the Party at the various levels without any consultations with the Stakeholders.

“There were no Primaries in Abia State APC in 2022 to select Candidates for National Assembly and House of Assembly Elections yet Governor Hope Uzodinma and Ikechi Emenike hand picked the Candidates for the elective positions. The abysmal result of the election is now history”.

The stakeholders said now that the Federal Boards are going to be reconstituted, Governor Uzodinma has compiled names of people to be given Federal Appointments meant for Abia State as if he is now the Alpha and Omega of APC in Abia.

Esiaga recalled that he has been in partisan politics since 1982 and was a member of the House of Representatives in 1992 on the platform of the Social Democratic Party SDP.

“I joined APC in 2014 and attended the Convention in Lagos that produced General Muhammadu Buhari as our Presidential flagbearer whereas Senator Hope Uzodinma joined APC in 2018 when his Senator Ali Sheriff-led faction of PDP lost out in their power game.

“The founding members of Abia State APC include the Chief BB Apugos, Chief Nyerere Anytime, Hon. Nze Esiagas, Rt. Hon. Stanley Ohajirukas, Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuikes, Hon. Ihenacho Obiomas, Hon. Chidi Maduekwes, Hon

Goldie Opusunjus, Dr Uche Ogahs, Chief Sam Nkires, Prince Paul Ikonnes, Senator Orji Kalus, Late Hon. Nonye Macebuhs etc, just to mention a few veteran politicians and they are today being taken for a ride by the Governor of Imo State.

“The more I soberly reflect on Governor Hope Uzodinma’s territorial expansion, the more I remember that his Clan’s man called Senator Arthur Nzeribe made a similar attempt in 1991 when Abia State was newly created but he was stoutly resisted by Abians ably led by HRH Eze David Elechi Ikoro (late) who was the then State Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

“Yours sincerely was in the forefront of the movement that chased Arthur Nzeribe out of God’s Own State and the mission was accomplished to the happiness of the entire Abians.

“In this age and time, another Imo son called Hope Uzodinma is on the same mission of dictating what goes on in another state.

“In the light of the above, I have the mandate of Abia State APC Integrity Group to plead with you in the name of God who has brought you this far in life to please and please call Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State to order.

“Let him steer clear of Abia APC matters and anything that has to do with Abia State as Abians have been sensitized enough to resist his plot to annex the State to Imo State. He should not forget that ‘those whose kernels were cracked for them by a benevolent spirit should not fail to be humble'”.
