Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode, Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on President Bola Tinubu to warn the controversial Kaduna-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi over his inciting statements.
Fani-Kayode made this known in an audio recording he posted on his X account on Sunday to react to Gumi’s violent utterances against Christians and Southerners.
Vanguard reported last week how Gumi, in a video sermon of over 14 minutes posted on his official Facebook page, that Christians cannot be trusted with security in Nigeria.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode said the security agents needed to arrest and prosecute Gumi over his unguided statements which could destabilise the country.
The ex-minister said, “Let it be clear to the whole country, we as Christians will not bow to anybody, and neither will rational, reasonable Muslims bow to his type of terroristic rhetoric, and neither will we let such people push us into a civil war.”
Fani-Kayode said, “We want peace in this country, and I call on the government, the DSS, the police, and all the security agencies and President Bola Tinubu to ensure that this man is called to order, that he’s called in, he is warned, he’s arrested, and, if necessary, prosecuted for incitement and an attempt to destabilise our country.”
