The Borno State Government has commenced training of 200 middle cadre administrative officers (GL08 to 13) to enhanced productivity.

The training is organised by the office of the State Head of Service in collaboration with the Association of Retired Public Servants of Borno.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the training in Maiduguri on Wednesday, the state Head of Service,  Barr. Simon Malgwi said the development was inline with Governor Zulum’s administration policy on the need to train and re-train civil servants for a more effective and efficient service delivery.

Malgwi said already training had been conducted last week for 150 ministerial sectretaries and directors, while some Permanent Secretaries were currently attending one month leadership and strategy course at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.

Malgwi said the training for Store Officers and related cadre would be conducted next week.

“All these training are geared towards repositioning the civil servants and motivating the workers for more effective, efficient and quality service delivery to our people.

“I dare say that for a long time, civil servants in the state have never have it better in terms of training, incentives and motivation. We must therefore extend our profound gratitude to our dynamic, focused and visionary leader, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum,  the Executive Governor of our dear state.

“I urged all the participants and other civil servants to justify the huge resources being committed to these trainings by rededicating and giving our best.

I also implored the participants to pay attention to the resource person and participate actively so as to maximize the gains of the workshop and at the end, put into use the things you have learnt, ” Malgwi said.

Six papers are expected to be presented by experts at the training comprising, “Understanding the Public Service Rules and Code of Conduct”, “Filling, Minutes and Minutes Taking”, “Basic Office Procedures and Official Abbreviations used in Government Offices”, “Channels of Communication in the public Service”, “Delegation of Official Functions and Responsibilities in Public Service”, and “Official Reports, Letters and Memo Writing”.
