A former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has called on the elders of the party to find an urgent solution to the internal crisis within the party.

Recall that crisis has been rocking the party since its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, picked Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okonwa, over his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, who had scored the second highest number of delegates’ votes at the party’s presidential primary.

Dr Anakwenze,in a statement on Wednesday, by his spokesman, who was the Director General, Anakwenze Campaign Organisation, ACO, Comrade Eric Oluwole, commended the PDP Board of Trustees, BOT, over the progress recorded so far to unite the party’s presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, with River State governor, Nyesom Wike and other aggrieved members of the party.

Also he advised the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, not to relent in its ongoing efforts to unite the PDP into one stronger family that can win elections.

Anakwenze, who noted that up till now, no meeting has been called among the PDP presidential aspirants, told the party leaders that there was need to call for a meeting among all the presidential aspirants who contested with Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the party’s ticket in order to assist the party with their structures across the country and also to have a sense of belonging.

“For instance, I have stopped some party members who have reached me and persuaded me to leave the party, which is the salvation that our Country Nigeria needs now. Please, PDP Stakeholders must ensure that they put an end to the PDP internal crisis”,he said.

Specifically, he called on the party’s Board of Trustees, BOT,to reconcile all those who are aggrieved within the party and reposition it into a formidable force so that the PDP will go into the 2023 elections as a united house to record an overwhelming victory.

This, he said, will enable the PDP to form the next federal government and implement its well designed and well packaged people oriented programmes meant to salvage Nigeria.

He insisted that a united PDP was needed “especially now in the overall interest of the party and our country, Nigeria, which is in dire need of a rescue operation from the worsening chaos and confusion, characterised by unprecendeted insecurity; falling Naira with its attendant ugly consequences on the economy; crashing education system aggravated by endless strike by university teachers and other staff over poor funding; among other frightening socioeconomic crises ravaging our dear motherland.”
