BENIN CITY – THE Network of Clergymen in Nigeria (NCMN), South-South Zone has backed the composition of the campaign council recently announced for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) which is to be headed by the governor of Plateau State, Gov Simon Lalong.
A Statement released to journalists in Benin City by the Coordinator of the group in the region Pastor Joseph Francis and his deputy, Apostle Odion Ebodaghe also queried those opposed to the choice of Sen. Kashim Shettima as the running mate to APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The group insisted that the choice of Shettima was purely a political decision that has nothing to do with religious inclination but with how the party can win the 2023 presidential election.
Part of the statement reads “Now that the composition of the campaign council has been announced, those who have been querying the choice of Shettima because he is a Muslim, why are they not now raising eyebrows over the campaign council?
“The head of the campaign council is a Christian, his deputy, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is a Christian, and the spokesperson, Festus Keyamo is a Christian.
“With this development, will the Muslims now complain that they have been sidelined or that the APC is not awake to its sensibilities?
“We want to reiterate like we have said before that the Tinubu project is a divine project and he has demonstrated that since he won the ticket of the party. His mission is purely a political one guided by God and he is taking the right steps that will lead him to victory in 2023”
