Nigeria’s Flamingos played out a goalless draw against Ethiopia at the MKO Abiola stadium on Saturday to qualify for this year’s U-17 Women’s World Cup in India, thanks to an aggregate 1-0 scoreline.

Opeyemi Ajakaye’s 36th minute effort a fortnight ago in Addis Ababa proved to be Nigeria’s plane ticket to India for the biennial event billed for October.

Nigeria’s best outing at the competition are three quarter-final finishes at the 2010, 2012, and 2014 editions.

Nigeria’s only absence was when Uruguay hosted in 2018.

The team had a perfect qualifying campaign, scoring 15 goals, conceded none, and recorded no defeat in all six games played.
