The High Court of Imo state, sitting in Owerri, on Friday restrained five banks from tempering with salaries, pensions and gratuities of Imo workers until the determination of the suit before it.

The order was given by the Hon. Justice M.E Nwagboso, in a suit No: HOW/590/2022, between Attorney General of Imo state (plaintiff/Applicant) and the new generation banks

According to the order, “That 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th defendants/Respondents be and hereby restrained in the interim from paying out or transferring any funds from accounts of the government of Imo state, including the federal accounts and allocations committee account of the Imo state government or any other fund housing the salaries of workers, pensions and gratuity of retired workers of Imo state in any of the Imo state government account to any of the third party whatsoever without the due mandate of the plaintiff being the accountant holders pending the hearing and determination of the substantive motion on notice/originating summons.

“That this suit is and is hereby adjourned to 17/06/2022 for hearing of the said substantive motion on notice/originating summons.”

This court order came a day after a National Industrial Court sitting in Owerri, sealed a new generation bank and gave a garnishee order to pay over N1.9 billion to Ex-Deputy governor of Imo state, Eze Prince Madumere, as his entitlements owed him by the government.
