Director-General of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, has assured commitment to continuous staff capacity development and provision of necessary equipment in all zonal offices of the Agency towards efficient response to disasters.

He gave the assurance at the weekend during a working visit to the Kano Territorial office of NEMA.

A statement by the Head Press Unit of NEMA, Manzo Ezekiel, said the DG NEMA identified some of the equipment to be deployed based on needs at the zonal offices for emergency response to include  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), multi casuality bags, collapse building rescue equipment and rescue ropes with accessories amongst other items.

The statement added that he(Ahmed) urged the staff to reciprocate the management’s gesture by becoming more dedicated to discharge of NEMA mandates, especially at the grassroots.

In his remarks, the Coordinator of NEMA Kano Territorial office Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi appreciated the DG Mustapha Habib Ahmed for being the first chief executive of the agency to visit the office since it was created in 2016.

The statement noted that he(Abdullahi) thanked the DG NEMA for his commitment to repositioning of the Agency through provision of necessary tools and human resources development and assured that the staff would reciprocate by supporting his vision.
