DEPUTY Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Christopher Ochor, Thursday, described the victory of the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori at the gubernatorial primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the State as well deserved.

Ochor in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Enebeli, rejoiced with Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on his victory at the polls. Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori had on Wednesday defeated 13 of his opponents to clinch the party ticket.

Ochor in the statement said: “On behalf of my family, friends, aides and constituents, I congratulate my boss,  the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly,  Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori on his well deserved victory at the PDP Gubernatorial primary election.

“Despite the thorny parts towards the primary, the Speaker, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori was steadfast, and unperturbed by the avarice of misinformation dished out to discredit his person and the journey as the candidate of Delta Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to fly the flag of our great party, the PDP in the 2023 Governorship Election.

“This victory of yours could be attributed to your steadfastness to leadership learning over the years, which have prepared you for public offices such as a candidate to be the Governor of Delta State, with its socio-cultural peculiarity, not seen in another part of the country”.

While expressing joy at the victory of Oborevwori, he dedicated the victory to God and all Deltans for their unity in support of his emergence as the choice of the party. He said; “I call on all party members to come together, to work towards victory in 2023, as yesterday is now history.

“Your victory to me is to God who had protected and guided you through the Journey, and all Deltans who stood behind you all these months. Yesterday has gone, we look up to tomorrow. I, therefore, urge all party faithful to work towards tomorrow, by dropping our differences, as the victory is for all members of the PDP family.

“I will not fail to also appreciate the leadership of our party, especially the Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who kept to his words of a free and fair primary. He demonstrated this in all the primaries starting with that of the House of Assembly.”
