A Civil Society Organisation, CSO, One Love Foundation, OLF, and a legs team have secured bail of a social media influencer, Hauwa Sa’idu Muhammed, popularly known as Jaruma, at an Upper Area Court in Zuba, Abuja.

Jaruma was arraigned for alleged defamation of character, false news publication and intimidation by a business tycoon, Mr. Ned Nwoko, on social media.

The complainant, Nwoko had accused Jaruma of publishing falsehood on her Instagram page against him and his wife, Regina Daniels, a popular Nollywood actress.

According to a statement signed by the Head of Legal, One Love Foundation, Samuel Ihensekhien Jnr Esq, disclosed that the organisation actively participated in securing the social media influencer’s bail.

The statement reads in part, “A popular aphrodisiac seller, Hauwa Sa’idu Muhammed, popularly known as Jaruma, also a social media influencer with 1.5million Instagram followers was today granted bail after spending four days in prison.

“What a lot of people do not no was the active participation of One Love Foundation, being a foremost and socio human rights international organisation played an active role in the release and court proceedings of Jaruma’s bail in the FCT Area Court today, vide the legal representation of one love foundation head of legal, Samuel Ihensekhien Jnr Esq who joined and team up with legal team of Jaruma , lead by Dr Kayode Ajulo to make sure, that the said influencer known as  Jaruma and her  fundamental human rights to bail is granted and adhered to by the Nigeria police authorities.”

Ihensekhien Jnr, in the statement appreciated the Global President of One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Eholor, for his timely intervention in this case by ensuring that Jaruma legal team is boasted with the legal expertise from One Love Foundation.

According to him (Ihensekhien Jnr), he (Eholor) assured that the case would be monitored to ensure the observance of concept of free speech, and that the idea of criminalization of freedom of speech and belief to speak up on issues and criticize erring VIP personality still stands, and that criminalization of free speech have been longed abolished in Nigeria.

However, he claimed that all the charges by Nigeria Police Force on Jaruma “are all defendable, as One Love Foundation will continue to defend and team up in advocacy for all persons, irrespective of age, class, ethnicity, religion in that regard.”
