I would have become a footballer — Ilochonwu, CEO AJ Entertainment

A Nigerian music entrepreneur, Chukwuebuka Gabriel Ilochonwu, though successful in his entertainment business, has expressed how he developed a passion for the football game as a child, to a point of his willingness to build a career out of it.

Ilochonwu, popularly known as Ebuka, said he would have probably become a professional footballer by now, but for his father, whom he said rather encouraged him to go to school and pursue educational studies first,” this counsel has now paved the way for me,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AJ Entertainment, Ilochonwu, said the need for him to go to school like his peers growing up, was why he had to abandon his childhood dream of becoming a footballer.

“I am still a football fan, but back then, I was a great footballer, and I really wanted to play football as a career when I was little, but my father refused, he didn’t want me to invest my strength and time into playing the game, he only said I needed to go to school in the United States.

“That was the reason I had to change my focus to and redirect my interest to pursuing an educational course of study. I enrolled in a school and that was how it all began until I made a success out of my academic pursuit.

“Today, I am a career music entrepreneur likewise a producer, and I am now grateful to my father’s counsel, because as you can see, no one can excel in this type of job as much as one should do without a good educational background.

“Music business plus everything attached to it requires special skills which one’s educational learning will enhance. For instance, these days, there are so many software one can use to do our job, literally, technology is the lifter of many things we do these days.

“So, if you are not well-grounded in particular know-how, you can’t make headway. Anyone who wants to go far in this job should have the required educational background so you can relate well and won’t be ignorant of things around you,” Ilochonwu said.
