One of Nigeria’s most iconic actresses of the last decade, Adunni Ade, helped shape a connective bridge between acting in Yoruba, English, and Pidgin, which are some of the most popular languages for expression in the country.
She has similarly brought that appeal to TikTok where she has been making funny and relatable content for her followers since Nigeria’s first COVID-19 lockdown. She has attempted numerous viral challenges and dance steps and built a followership of over 80,000 people.
Itsyaboymaina Is Meme Royalty

Every month, TikTok users find something to trend, either a challenge or a sound that is fun which they can really get into. This month is no different with the following trends taking the spotlight:
Jowo reaches over 60 million view
Off A Better Time, Nigerian superstar Davido’s third album “Jowo”, has taken on a life of its own on TikTok as users react to the song’s love-tinged lyrics which has exploded across social media in the last three months. In the first seven days of the sound going viral on TikTok, it received over 6K video creations and has since gotten over 61M views.
Singleandsearchingchallenge is the latest craze on TikTok!
This #singleandsearchingchallenge owes its popularity to a song of the same title by popular Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade. Though not a new song, TikTok’s penchant for seeking out nostalgic sounds has given the song a second lease of life inspired by a video of creator @JenniFrank29 asking people to get involved in similar duet videos. In its first week, the #singleandsearchingchallenge got over 2M views and currently has over 32.3M views.
