COVID-19: Nigeria Energy Forum reschedules conference, proposes Sept 9

The Nigeria Energy Forum initially scheduled to hold next month (April) has been postponed due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

This decision, according to the organiser was made after an extensive review of the global health and safety situation and our commitment to supporting governments and public health professionals in the ongoing efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreak.

The organiser however proposed Septemeber 9-10 as the new date for the conference but noted it will be subject to continuous review as the health and safety situation evolves, and will clearly communicate any relevant information to anticipating participants over the coming weeks.

Nigeria Energy Forum 2020 is expected to focus on how the nation can ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

Focusing on the Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG-7), the Forum according to the organiser will bring together 30 energy experts and over 300 participants.

Reiterating the need to postpone the event, the organiser said: “We recognise it is equally important that we all contribute to putting safety first and playing an active role in reducing public health risks,”

As part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), states in Nigeria have banned social gatherings with attendance of more than 50 people.

The federal government has also shutdown all international airports including Lagos and Abuja.
