Abia Assembly embarks on oversight functions of roads under construction

Following its resolve to ensure that contractors handling various roads and other infrastructural projects in Abia State are held accountable and that they execute the projects to the highest possible standards, Chairman of the Abia State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Projects Monitoring, Hon Ginger Onwusibe, on Thursday led other members of the Committee on an inspection tour of some ongoing road projects in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of Abia State.

The inspection tour was sequel to a petition written to the House by Concerned Aba Indigenes and Residents about the activities of some contractors engaged by the state government for the construction of some roads and other infrastructure in Aba.

Project sites the Committee visited include the Aba – Owerri Rd being handled by Track-Care Construction Company where they were briefed by the Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mr Timothy Iheoma; the Osisioma Flyover being constructed by China Zhonghou Construction Company, Faulks Rd being constructed by Setraco Construction Company, the Ifeobara Basin and the New Umuahia Road by Obikabia Junction, Ogbor Hill.
