OYF also called on Minister of Environment to resign from office following the revelations of monumental contract fraud in the award of Ogoni clean-up contracts.

An online medium had, as report of its investigation, revealed that companies cleared to carry out the Ogoni clean-up had no idea and qualification for the job.

In a statement, yesterday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, President-General of OYF, Yamaabana Legborsi, noted that dissolution would mean justice to the people of Ogoni.

Yamaabana said: “Though the questionable integrity of the managers of the clean-up project were not strange to us, which was why Ogoni youths, through the OYF, dragged HYPREP, Federal Ministry of Environment & others to court in suit number FHC/PHC122/2018, currently before a Federal High Court sitting in Port-Harcourt. The revelations by the online medium have vindicated the position of OYF.

“By these scandalous revelations, HYPREP and the Federal  Ministry of Environment have seriously abashed President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade and the president must prove to the world that he is committed to fighting corruption by not nodding at the fraud in HYPREP.

“We, hereby, call on President Buhari to dissolve the board of HYPREP and sack the Minister of Environment to save the Ogoni clean-up and to save the image of his administration’s anti-corruption fight.”
