A Christian group, Christian Emancipation Group, (CEG), has said that the tenure of Rev. Tor Uja as the Executive Secretary of the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), has raised the bar in the performance of Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Jerusalem.
In a statement by the chairman of the group, Israel Adinoyi which was made available to journalists on Wednesday, there is no doubt that the Commission has in the last three years under the leadership of Rev. Tor Uja recorded significant achievements.
Adinoyi maintained that these laudable achievements were possible as a result of the innovations, ideas and strategic action by pragmatic leadership of Rev. Uja.
The group observed with pride that the three years of Rev Tor Uja in the administration of the Nigerian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) has been very eventful and tremendous.
He noted that One major achievement of NCPC under Uja is the retool of Christian pilgrimage, to redefine and reposition it, making it more programmed, more purposeful and more continuous.
The group noted that the vision of Uja is to ensure that pilgrimage should have a divine focus; people should go with an expectation and come back with something.
According to Israel, Uja equally worked very hard to see that pilgrimage should have three dimensions; which he said are, focus on Christ pilgrimage and expanding the knowledge of Christ to all pilgrims so that they come back as better Christians.
The other focus of the Uja led administration is promoting Nigeria nationalism he said is another landmark achievement of his administration in NCPC.
“Uja said pilgrims should go on pilgrimage with the country in mind and come back with a bigger Nigerian picture in their mind. He believes that every pilgrim or any pilgrimage manager should be transformed into being an ordinary person who is a leader and be an advocate for productive development.
Another major achievement of Uja’s administration according to the group is the idea of building a pilgrims’ heritage camp.
The aim is for intending pilgrims to be oriented, trained and exposed to better education and preparation for the trip to Israel and other Holy sites in the world.
He noted that government bought into this vision by budgeting five hundred and fifty-nine million naira for that purpose in the 2018 appropriation. .
