The former President of the National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations, NACOMYO, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, has been conferred with the title: Balogun Musulumi of Itesi in Egba Alake, Ogun State.
The conferment was held on Saturday at the Itesi Central Mosque, Abeokuta, Ogun State just as the Chief Imam of the Itesi Central Mosque, Alhaji AbdulGaniy Salaudeen eulogised the exemplary character of Akintunde describing him as a doyen of Islam.
Alhaji Salaudeen admonished the new Balogun Muslumi to continue to use his wealth of experience in public service to benefit Muslims and propagate the Islamic faith.
In his lecture at the occasion, the Chief Imam of Gbagura, Professor Kamaldeen Balogun advised the new Balogun Musulumi to be humble and seek the help of Allah in his new assignment as an ambassador of Islam in the community.
Professor Balogun implored Akintunde to be a role model, wary of sins and not associate with people of questionable character who will ill-advise him.
Akintunde said he accepted the title based on his resolve to further serve Allah by promoting intra and inter-religious harmony within and outside the community.
“With this conferment, it is an added responsibility because this title is a leadership responsibility and opportunity to use my experience in several activities outside my community and bring it to bear in my local community having served Islam in several capacities, both at state and national levels.
“I think the inter-religious harmony, collaboration, networking between various religious groups and communities, is uppermost and very important. By this responsibility, I should ensure that.”
